Simple Strategies For Cleaning The Shower And Carpet

Simple strategies you can apply if you want to make cleaning the carpet and shower a lot easier.

I like helping my wife clean the house during weekends. However, I find it very difficult to clean the shower and carpet. I try to avoid doing these chores most of the time, but if I really can’t argue my way out of the chore I apply these simple strategies to make cleaning little easier!

Don’t forget to take out anything not bolted into the shower before proceeding with the chore; otherwise you’ll be knocking down things left and right when cleaning.

Next step is to prepare a bathroom spray, a pair of rubber gloves, a sponge, and a lot of elbow grease. Spray the tiles with the cleaning formula and let it sit for a few minutes. After letting the formula soak, you can then scrub the tiles using the sponge. Rinse the area you scrubbed with warm water. Repeat this process this on every section of the wall and the floor.

You can also apply this process when cleaning your bath or shower tray, except when you live in a hard water area. Lime scale spots usually build up in the bath in the areas I mentioned, so you can remove those tough stains with a special solution of equal parts hot water and white vinegar. This DIY vinegar formula can also be used in cleaning to clean soap scum off glass shower doors.

Let’s now turn our focus on the shower head. Usually, when the spray from your shower head weakens, keep in mind that it’s not broken- it’s just clogged! That’s why wiping the surface of your shower head clean is not enough.

To get rid of the clog you have to unscrew the shower head from its body and let it marinade in a bowl of

white vinegar for a few hours or overnight (for really tough clogs). After giving it a good dip, it’s now time to whip out the toothbrush and scrub away all the dirt and grime that’s been clogging your shower head. Rinse and reattach!

It’s ideal to vacuum your carpet at least once a week.

The first step to a clean carpet is regular vacuuming! Vacuuming your carpet at least once a week doesn’t just help in minimising the build-up of dust it can also prevent your carpet from looking worn out especially in areas with high foot traffic.

Another way to maintain the cleanliness of your carpet is by asking house guests to leave their shoes outside, because when you walk on a carpet wearing shoes, the carpet is essentially cleaning the soles of your shoes, transferring all the dirt, grease and unpleasant things from outside deep into your carpet.

You can also invest in a carpet washer – aka a wet/dry vacuum – to keep your carpet clean and fresh! It expels a mixture of water and cleaning solution into the carpet and brushes the the fibres to remove all manner of dirt and grease. It then sucks up the dirty water after.

Aside from removing dirt, it also remove smells, pollens and germs that’s why it’s a great investment!
